Dawkins asserts he has no positive evidence to disprove God while saying in the same breath that he was a 6.9 on the scale of probability (1-7) that God did not exist.

"Joe assets he has no positive evidence that the first card in a shuffled deck will not be a queen of spades while saying in the same breath that the chances aren't big" - no problem?

When you speak of "a deck of cards" you are smuggling in additional information. It is common knowledge that decks of cards are composed of 52 cards and so despite the disclaimer you actually do have positive evidence that the chances "aren't big" specifically, you have positive evidence that the chances are 1 in 52.

I find this lacklustre and fairly useless dialogue. Fairly typical of what we so easily call "apologetics" ... Its a bunch of overweight, balding, aging, sedentary Europeans exercising their intellectual egos to no effect. Where is the gospel in this? How is this apologetic?

I listened to the whole debate and was left totally flabbergasted by Dr Rowan Williams answers. In his eagerness to remain ever graceful to his atheist opponent, he failed to advance any cogent or clear-cut Christian positions on the topic. In fact he seemed to agree with a lot of outrageous positions stated by Richard Dawkins! What a weakling.

Jesus himself was much more hard hitting and unabashed in stating the Truth when challenged by the Pharisees. Thats where we should be drawing our inspiration on how to defend the faith, and of course the Apostle Paul. I feel Rowan has done Christian apologetics a great disservice in this debate. No wonder he keeps equivocating when faced with the question of openly homosexual clergy in the Anglican Church.

Is there some sort of Mixed Martial Arts apologetics? Sometimes we need lambs..other times lions and yes, I know I am screwing up metaphors.

This is not the place for mindless debate. Just enjoy listening to two actual intellectuals.
