Ganssle's book Thinking About God is EXCELLENT and very accessible. Not only will it ground believers in basic philosophical thought that enriches our faith, it provides solid and winsome responses to those who are asking the tougher questions and offers great advice on advancing conversations forward.
I tried to listen with an open mind to Dinesh D'Souza's interview on Sound Rezn. He reviewed his recent debate with John Loftus; talking about Loftus' presentation, how he responded to it, the positive case he was trying to make, and his approach to apologetics.
If I was too critical of Mr. D'Souza in an earlier comment I made on this blog regarding his presentation in this debate, I wanted to acknowledge it. After listening to this interview I cannot. I must conclude that Mr. D'Souza's apologetic is thoroughly unbiblical.
Asked about the problem of suffering, Dinesh answered that when modern people ask why there is suffering in the world, the fall of Adam is one of the traditional "answers that don't work all that well." This is because, in a scientific age, people cannot accept the idea of "ancestral guilt" or the idea that labor pains came from "eating an apple."
Incredible.
This is basic stuff that is definitional of Christianity, and Dinesh just throws it out window. The man needs to learn the truths of Christianity before he goes forth to attempt to defend it.
