Jacoby claims that Jesus did not preach "salvation by faith alone;" and further, that this teaching is "a modern Protestant fiction of the 16th century."
This is sloppy. The reformers did not teach salvation by faith alone. They taught justification by faith alone; which is what Jesus (and the Apostles) taught:
John 3:14-15 (ESV) 14And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in him may have eternal life.
John 3:18 (ESV) Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
It appears that Dr. Jacoby is another "mere Christianity" advocate.
