In this classic 1968 debate on the Long John Nebel Show, the late great Walter Martin debated the outspoken atheist activist Madalyn Murray O'Hair. This is not a moderated academic debate, as the listener will quickly find out. A fascinating and lively exchange. (Big hat tip to DefCon for finding this rare audio.)

Thanks for sharing!
Mrs. Murray was very inconsistent. It's interesting that when asked hypothetically if she would be okay with the decision of a son to enter the ministry and she said she would be fine with that when twelve years later she disowned one of her sons for doing so.
Wow. Atheism has come a long way since the 1960s, if this woman was ever considered anything but an embarrassment to the cause.
Murray seemed pretty reasonable up until the actual debating began. She calls Martin a looney, but she ends up sounding like one herself.
Thanks Brian, I now feel 10% dumber for having listened to this.
My ears were bleeding by the end from her shrill & shreeky voice. It would be much easier to listen to if Ms. Murray O'hair wasn't so childish and taunting. She was flat out childish.
Murray's shrill and screechy voice with all the childish and taunting comments made my ears bleed. This would have been a much more enjoyable battle of wits if Rev. Martin hadn't been doing battle with an unarmed person...
There are many philosophers today who are theist and present plausible good arguments contrary to folks like Dawkins, Hitchens, etc.
Dr. Martin was a great debater but more importantly a man of God who proclaimed the good news.
Painful.
Doesn`t matter how many times I listen to this debate, especially with the manner in which Walter Martin handles Mrs. O'Hair. I just chuckle in my head and learn even more. Still valid and applicable for todays Apologists. In Agape Fisherman
Martin is the only one who has any brains, even the callers were just as stupid as Murry and Nebel.
