Apologist Interview: Clay Jones

Today's interview is with Clay Jones (his blog is right here), assistant professor at the Master of Arts in Christian Apologetics program at Biola University, teaching courses in Theodicy & the Issue of Evil, apologetics research and writing, and defending the resurrection. But the area of focus he is known for is the topic of evil and suffering. Book Review: The Real Face of Atheism by Ravi Zacharias

The Real Face of Atheism by Ravi Zacharias is a book written with the familiar signature style of the author: profound in depth, focused on the ultimate issues of life, engaging and immersive with illustrations, and challenging to the heart. Anyone who has heard Zacharias speak can appreciate the flowing gracefulness of his words and the clarity of his thought. In this book, the author engages the subject of atheism in a similar fashion – although, for this reviewer, it lacks the same impact on the written page. This will be a very brief reflection on the general content.

Book Review: Contending with Christianity's Critics edited by Copan and Craig

Contending with Christianity’s Critics: Answering New Atheists and Other Objectors edited by Paul Copan and William Lane Craig is a collection of essays “dedicated to addressing challenges from the New Atheists and other contemporary critics of Christianity concerning belief in God, the historical Jesus, and Christianity’s doctrinal coherence.”(1) Like the book Passionate Conviction this publication is the fruit of the annual conferences of the Evangelical Philosophical Society. The book has eighteen chapters, each substantial in content, which makes the book broad in scope and anything but shallow. The purpose of this review will be limited to simply providing a general overview of the contents.

Let us imagine that there is no God. Perhaps everything that is came into being out of nothing and for no real reason. The processes of matter coalesced to form chance patterns in an endless collision of atoms and particles. After a certain amount of time, some matter and energy formed self-replicating molecules. By something that cannot even be called luck, what we call life came into existence at the end of a process of materialistic chance. Conscious, self-reflective, thinking beings arose to contemplate, communicate, and populate. So-called morality, society, and humanity came to be.
