That appears to be one of Dr, Piper's main points, especially as it related to the historicity of the OT accounts and the authority of the OT as the word of God, and of the NT as the faithful passing on of Christ's teachings through the ministries of the apostles.

Listen to these lectures. This is the kind of teaching that is vital for our understanding of every word that proceeds from the mouth of God, which is our food. We are far too ignorant as the people of God of the word itself, how we got it, how we can know that we have received it accurately, the self-authenticating nature of the word of God--because it is the word of God--the subsequent authority it has in our lives and in this world because it is the word of God.

I love the points Piper makes about how the Bible makes more sense than anything out there, and about how it's the only thing that can consistently make sense of our condition as fallen men and of the world we live in.

I think some of the points you made are relevant to many Christians. However, i think you are forgetting the many Christians who follow the Bible for genuine reasons. For the message it presents and the morality it enforces. In fact, I would be willing to guess that you hold to a moral code that is very similar to the one outlined in the Bible. Most people do.
