“The existence of the Bible, as a book for the people, is the greatest benefit the human race has ever experienced. Every attempt to belittle it is a crime against humanity.”

Hat tip to anyone who can find the correct original reference for this quote.
Not sure if it is in a published work of his. But Paulsen, Creighton, and Lefevre, in their book "Immanuel Kant, his life and doctrine" say it is found on an "unbound page" of his that is preserved in the Konigsberg Library.

Manuscript evidence for superior New Testament reliability.
And now we know that Kant was not right about everything.
"Christ is the foundation of all society and morals and all that deny his glory are abarrent and full of sin." - Cicero
Would anybody believe that Cicero said this if you were told that "some guys say that this is found in some Vatican manuscript"? You shouldnt.
From now on, quotes should always be posted with proper original citations (from primary texts and not secondary ones), otherwise it comes off as mere cheerleading.
"On one of the unbound pages (Lose Blatter) preserved by the Konigsberg library[1] stand these words :
"The existence of the Bible, as a book for the people, is the
greatest benefit which the human race has ever experienced.
Every attempt to belittle it, or to do away with it entirely,
as the lovers of God and man do, is a crime against
humanity. And if there are to be miracles, this book, in
which the accounts of miracles occur only incidentally, as
historical confirmation of the doctrines of rational religion,
is itself the greatest miracle. For here we have a system
of religious doctrines and beliefs, that has been built up
without the help of Greek philosophy, by unlearned persons,
and that has, more than any other, exercised an influence
for good upon the hearts and lives of men."

This Kant I believe is the same person that tells you God is just a POSTULATE. Right?
“The existence of the Bible, as a book for the people, is the greatest benefit the human race has ever experienced. Every attempt to belittle it is a crime against humanity.”- Immanuel Kant. Lovely quote this one. Thanks for sharing with us.
I wouldn't believe it solely on the basis that anyone who can't spell aberrant isn't quoting Cicero.
