Why you should join the church is essentially the same question as "why should I be saved". The two are inseparable.

Problems come in, however, when we use "church" to mean a 501c3 non-profit organization. In that case it is less clear that one is under obligation to join any such organization, much less a particular one.

We are under obligation to encourage and strenghten other believers ie the Church. The NT Church, as far as I know, was made up of communities and rarely isolated individuals.

Strictly speaking, this doesn't need to take place in an organisation, but since the Church/believers are often found in organisations why not join one?

Is it possible to fellowship with, encourage, and strengthen other believers without joining a denomination? (501c3 organization) Yes it is. Is it possible to do the aforementioned without being a member of the body of Christ? It is impossible.

It seems to me, that being a member of Christian fellowship, (ecclesia)is a foundational aspect of being a believer, joining a church is not.
