Sunday Quote: Albert Mohler on Science and Christianity

"Are science and Christianity friends? The answer to that is an emphatic yes, for any true science will be perfectly compatible with the truths we know by God’s revelation. But this science is not naturalistic, while modern science usually is."

- Albert Mohler

The methods of science are premised upon, where intelligently designed upon, the concept that God the creator is a rational being and that thus, God's creation could be rationally discerned.

"True science"? I would like a definition of that. Should "God's revelation" be used in treating cancer?

The vast majority of science says nothing whatsoever about origins so therefore is not in anyway in conflict with the Christian faith. In the small part of science which deals with origins (cosmic evolution, biological evolution, evolutionary psychology, etc.) conflict may arise and there may be ways to re-reconcile those conflicts which arise.

To say that the whole sciences are in conflict with Christian belief, just because of that small percentage of science that deals with questions of origins is extremely misleading. It would more accurate to say that Christian belief and small part of science which deals origins are in fact in conflict.

Science includes data/observations, theories, and what Lewontin calls "shaping principles" or one's worldview. Organziations like the National Academy of Science say they are "neutral" on the existence of a supernatural being or God, but yet impose only naturalistic answers for explaining how things work refuting their own "neutrality". Neutrality is a myth - everyone has a worldview and it bears on how one answers questions about science.
